Peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) Faucon pèlerin

Description : Pointy wings, long tail, very quick. Black cap with thick black malar stripes.

Habitats : Cliffsides, open lands, cities.
Wingspan : 1m
Food : Birds caught in flight.

This species almost disappeared locally due to DDT pesticide which made the eggshells too fragile for proper incubation. Nowadays, the population is stable, in part thanks to the reintroduction of the species and the ban on DDT. The peregrine falcon is the fastes bird in the world. In a stoop, it can reach speeds of over 350km/h.
