American kestrel (Falco sparverius) Crécerelle d’Amérique

Description : Pointy and narrow wings, long tail, common bird of the size of a dove, often perched on electrical wires. Tail bobing, hovering. The male has red back and tail, bluish-grey wings; meanwhile the female is more brown all around with a striped tail.
Habitats : Open terrain, fields, parks, etc.
Wingspan : 50 -60cm
Nourriture : Voles, mice, birds, insects.

This species is very common in Quebec, and one of the rare raptor species where males are more colorful than females (usually they are of the same color and pattern).
